WHY DO WE HOLD A SOCIAL INCLUSION STARTUP EUROPE AWARDS?
Social protection and social inclusion is vital for the EU Member States and the European Commission has made many efforts to support and complement their policies in these fields.
For example, The Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth sets seeks to lift at least 20 million people out of poverty and social exclusion. The flagship initiatives of the Europe 2020 strategy, including the Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion and the Agenda for New Skills and Jobs, support initiatives to achieve these goals. Moreover, by means of the Social Investment Package, the Commission provides guidance to Member States on the modernization of their welfare systems towards social investment throughout life. And through the European Commission’s European Disability Strategy 2010-2020, adopted in 2010, they seek to target every type of collective.
Through this category we seek to recognize the work of startups creating innovative technological solutions for collectives of different abilities like people with low vision or reduced mobility.
