StartUp Europe Awards Special Edition SES19
StartUp Europe Awards, a European Commission supported initiative in collaboration with Startup Europe and organized by Finnova Foundation, is holding a special edition for European startups that will be recognized during the Startup Europe Summit 2019 (SES19), to be celebrated in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, on 21 and 22 March 2019.
This SEUA Special Edition SES19 will recognize 5 five startups (one for each one of the following prizes):

Petros Kokkalis was the Vice-President and shareholder of Intracom Holdings, one of the largest multinational technology groups in South-Eastern Europe, and the Vice-President and shareholder of Intralot S.A. Vice-President of the Kokkalis Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes education and training, culture and social welfare, medical research and information technology, and athletics. He is Secretary General of Organization Earth, an environmental education NGO.

Miguel has founded startups before, and helped others grow in a variety of roles. He is a skilled generalist that understands technology as well as people-matters. His expertise encompasses tasks and challenges, from the vision and strategy definition to product management, with special dedication to startup funding and investor relations. Entrepreneurship professor at the IE Business School and MIB. Trying to enhance the Spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem, he co-founded and presides over Chamberi Valley, the main Madrid-based networking initiative for startups.
Piroska Szalai has obtained a degree (MSc) at Pannon University in 1987, where she studied Industrial Engineering and Management Studies. She is the member of the MTA (Hungarian Academy of Sciences) Knowledge Management Committee, since 2003. She was the Ministerial Commissioner responsible for improving the labour market prospects of women at the Ministry for National Economy in 2012-2014. 2014-2018, she is the ministerial advisor of the Minister of the National Economy.

During this period our team will contact the winners. In case one startup cannot attend the ceremony in Cluj-Napoca, we will contact the second best scored startup to invite them to receive the prize.
The 5 selected startups will be awarded with a special recognition delivered by European Commission Authorities.

SEUA SPECIAL EDITION RULES / SPECIFICATIONS
NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
Startups winners will be invited to participate in the Startup Europe Summit SES19 that will take place between 21 and 22 March in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The expenses during both days of 1 member of the startup will be reimbursed (transport from country of origin to Cluj-Napoca, accommodation and daily allowance).
The startups will be recognized in a ceremony that will be held on March 21 in the frame of the Startup Europe Summit 2019 and will count with the presence of authorities from the European Commission, key influencers, investors, tech leaders, tech journalists, policy makers, entrepreneurs and more!
EUROPEAN RECOGNITION
In SES19, the selected startups will be able to showcase their innovation in the networking area of the conference and will gain exposure and visibility through the StartUp Europe Awards Media Alliance composed by more than 30 media outlets and social networks sites.
UP-GRADING FOR SEUA
The selected startups will pass to the European level of the next StartUp Europe Awards edition, regardless of any other startup competing or awarded in their country or category. (Startups will be required to fill a new form for the final competition).
StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) is an open innovation initiative promoted by the European Commission and Finnova Foundation in collaboration with Startup Europe; it is supported by the President of the European Parliament, the President of the Committee of the Regions, the Vice-President of the Economic and Social Committee and several members from the European Parliament. StartUp Europe Awards is sponsored by StartUp Europe Accelerator.
SEUA has celebrated two European finals (one in Brussels and the other in Sofia), and is going to launch the third edition during the first quarter of 2019.

ACCESS TO EU FUNDING MENTORING
The winning startups will have access to information on opportunities offered by the European Union to boost and internationalize their projects through the StartUp Europe Accelerator program of the Finnova Foundation.
JURY
The multidisciplinary jury will be composed by professionals from different countries and fields. Some of them are members from the High Level group of experts from StartUp Europe of the European Commission.
The selection will be made taking into account the existing startups in the EU that meet these criteria and the applications received.
